Kids love to swing! Thats just a fact.
Chances are, you had a swing set in your own backyard when you were young. I know I did, and I remember how much fun I had on it whenever it was nice enough to play outside.
But swing sets have evolved a ton since I was a kid. What started off as a simple frame with a seat hanging on it from a chain has transformed into a huge, all-inclusive playground with swings, slides, monkey bars, tubes, sand pits, etc. And while all of this sounds great in theory, it takes up a lot of space, space that a lot of us with small yards just don’t have.
If you’re looking to buy your kids a swing set to play on in the comfort of your backyard but don’t have a ton of space for all those extras, you’re in luck. There are some great space-saver swing sets available. I’ve scoured the web in search of small swing sets that will be perfect for you and your family.
Some of them are pretty basic, but I’ve done my best to find the best small swingsets at the best price. I’ve broken them up into categories since everyone has different needs in a swing set. One of these small sets for smaller yards should work for you!
In a hurry? Here are the best swings from each category below.

Best Single Seaters
#2. Movement God Kids Outdoor A-Frame Swing Set
If all you’re looking for is just a single seat swing set, there’s none better than this one by Movement God. I know the name is a bit much. Movement God, really? But it’s got great reviews on Amazon, and for the price, it’s hard to beat among space saver sets.
It has a wide stance, making it really stable. The dimensions are 77″(L) x 26″(W) x 72′(H). It’s a space saver for sure.
The provided mat seat provides a comfy ride and is rated to hold up to 110 lbs. The recommended age range for this swing set is 3-8 years old. The unit itself weighs in at around 36lbs, so it’s not overly heavy.
Installation isn’t too bad either. Most users have been able to put this swing together in about an hour. However, it’s helpful if you have a second set of hands to speed up the process.
#3. Hedstrom Single Swing
Another great single-seat swing set for the smallest backyards is this one by Hedstrom.
The Hedstrom single swing is made from heavy-duty steel and is powder coated to provide protection from the elements for years to come.
It doesn’t have as wide of a stance as the Movement God swing above, but it’s just as sturdy. It will hold up to 100 lbs and is made for kids ages 3-10 years old.
The dimensions of this swing are 65″(L) x 48″(W) x 67″(H), making it a bit more compact than the one by Movement God and the seat itself sits a bit higher off the ground.
Overall, the Hedstrom Single Swing is a great space-saver swing set that will fit well in any backyard.
#4. Zeny Web Spinner Swing Set
Ok, so I know this isn’t a single “seat” swing, but it is a single “web,” if that counts. This spider net swing set by Zeny is great if you have a small backyard and multiple kids who want to swing at the same time.
Its all-steel construction makes it super durable and safe. It’s also powder-coated, which means it’s a durable swing that’s protected from the elements and rusting. The ropes and the web are made from high-quality polyethylene and are a lot stronger than you would think. This thing is rated for up to 600 lbs! Crazy, right?
The dimensions of the Zeny Web Spinner swing are 87″(L) x 65″(W) x 72″(H). So, like the two swings mentioned above, it’s compact. Some users have even installed this swing indoors! Speaking of installation, one user actually paid her 13-year-old neighbor to install it for her. Can’t be too hard, right?
All in all, the Zeny Web Spinner swing set is a great space-saver swing, especially if you have multiple kids or you want to get on the swing as well!
Best Traditional Swings
#5. Swing-N-Slide Ranger
If you want a more traditional style swing but have limited space, the Swing-N-Slide Ranger is a great choice. It has two swing seats for your little ones and a ring/trapeze swing as well. Each swing will hold 115 lbs and can be adjusted for height.
The overall construction of this swing is solid. Only premium-grade lumber, hardware, and swing components are used. All of the chains feature a special coating on them which helps prevent pinching, and because it’s made from cedar, it’s resistant to rotting, warping, and insect damage. This swing set is definitely low maintenance and built to last.
The dimensions of the Swing-N-Slide Ranger are 104″(L) x 92″(W) x 82″(H) when fully assembled. While this isn’t as small as some of the swings on the list, it’s still a great option for small backyards.
Another great feature of this swing set is that the swing seats and acrobat bar can be swapped out for baby swings, gliders, bench swings, or even a tire swing, making this a highly versatile swing that’s perfect for the entire family.
#6. Movement God Two Seat Swing Set
Movement God makes its way onto the list again with this two-seater swing set. While it doesn’t have the acrobat bar that the Swing-N-Glide Ranger does, it is quite a bit cheaper.
This free-standing swing is constructed of all steel tubing making it super strong and durable. And weighing in at 41lbs, it’s surprisingly light. Not that you would want to move it, but it could be done fairly easily if necessary. This swing also passes all playground performance and safety standards.
The dimensions of this swing are 102″(L) x 74″(W) x 71″(H) making it the perfect size for smaller backyards. Its compact, light frame makes it ideal for anyone who’s in search of a space-saving swing set.
This swing is also coated with a UV-protective finish which helps protect it from paint chipping, cracking, peeling, and rust. Which, if you’re buying something that will be outside all the time, is definitely a good thing.
The maximum weight per seat is 100 lbs and is recommended for children between the ages of 3-8 years old.
Best Toddler Swings
#7. Little Tikes Clubhouse Swing Set
If you’re in search of a swing set/playground that your toddler will love, the Little Tikes Clubhouse is a great option.
This swing set is loaded with fun features that your younger child will love. Not only does it have two swing seats which hold 60 lbs each, but also a slide, interactive steering wheel, rope ladder, and a clubhouse. What more could you ask for?!
This playground is designed specifically with the toddler in mind. For example, the rails on the slide are sized perfectly for a child’s smaller hands, and it’s made from hard plastic, which has a little more give to it than wood or steel.
The compact design of this swing is great for small backyards and is suited to entertain 4 kids at a time. This is perfect for larger families or when your kids have friends over. The dimensions of this playground are 144″ (L) x 68″ (W) x 76″ (H).
#8. Costzon Toddler Climber and Swing Set
This 4-in-1 swing set by Costzon is a great choice for parents looking to get the most bang for their buck. It has some great features that your toddler is sure to love.
Is your child into basketball? This swing set has a basketball hoop! Like to swing and slide? It’s got that, too, of course! Enjoy the occasional game of ring toss? You can do that too! All these great features wrapped up into one play set is a great way to keep your child entertained for hours.

The assembled size of the swing set is 66″ (L) x 59″ (W) x 47″ (H). The swing itself can hold a maximum weight of 66 lbs, and the slide can hold up to 110 lbs. There are also some great safety features built in. For example, the steps feature a non-slip design, the slide has a deceleration zone, and the swing has a T-shaped front handle to help keep your child secure.
All in all, the Costzon 4-1 swing set is a great option for any parent who needs lots of features at a great price.
Alternative Swing Options
While all of the swings on this list are designed to be used in small backyards, not all of them will work for every user. In fact, depending on your situation, none of them may work.
However, if you have a sturdy tree in your backyard, you could always opt for a tree swing instead. While it may not provide all the cool features of some of the swing sets mentioned above, its still a great way to get yourself and your kids outdoors and having fun.
One of the best tree swings I’ve been able to find is the Sorbus Saucer Tree Swing. The 24″ diameter seat is comfortable, sturdy, and holds up to 220lbs. Not only that, it’s really easy to install as well, and the height of the seat is adjustable. It can be used on most trees, or if you’re able to DIY a swing frame, you can use it there as well.
You should definitely consider a tree swing if none of the above options work for you. It may be just what you’re looking for.
In Conclusion
Having your own backyard swing set can be big fun for your kids and lead to hours of play and backyard discovery. I hope one of the great space saver swing sets in this article is perfect for your backyard.
